Ahead of the fourth anniversary of Cyberpunk 2077, which was released on December 10, 2020, albeit in less than perfect condition, CD Projekt has unexpectedly announced that it has prepared one more update for players. Meanwhile, players shouldn’t have been expecting any more, as support for the game was officially discontinued by the developer earlier this year. And yet, we now have the unveiling of update 2.2. So what can we expect from version 2.2? Of course, if you’d rather find out for yourself, you might as well head straight to update the game, as update 2.2 has already arrived on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series following its unveiling.

The new update may have come about thanks to a collaboration with Virtuos, as CD Projekt itself has actually been working on other projects, and the main idea behind it is to be able to express itself more. This is what the developers are now offering players with expanded options for modifying cars and themselves, which can then be captured through additional possible settings and modifications in the enhanced photo mode. Overall, this is no small feat, as the update is brimming with these features and new additions. Our protagonist V has more than 100 new customization options at his disposal, namely 32 eye colors, 18 lip makeup types, 16 eye makeup types and 10 makeup types, 4 facial scars, 5 eyebrow shapes, 8 cybernetic facial software elements, 4 face tattoos and 2 body tattoos, and finally 17 nail polish colors. The character editor has then been improved with a randomizer that now includes a Plain-to-Punk setting that will create either a decent look or, conversely, the most insane one. Or strike some sort of ideal balance with it. For the full list of new features, check out on Cyberpunk.net

Moving on to things like vehicles, the CrystalCoat system added to Cyberpunk 2077 in the previous 2.1 update has also seen an expansion and more compatibility, as it is now no longer only available on the Rayfield brand it was originally designed for. The paintjob can now also be used on the Herrera, Mizutani, Quadra and Villefort car brands. For CrystalCoat-compatible vehicles, a new feature is Kiroshi’s Twintone, whose optics make it possible to scan another car and, for a fee, save its colour scheme, which can then be used. Except for cars associated with a task or police cars. And if you don’t want to drive around alone, know that after the first act you may be randomly joined by Johnny Silverhand, who will comment on the action from the passenger seat. On this occasion, the developers have also thrown in a few tweaks to the gameplay and a few other issues.

The various wrap-up features have become very popular in recent years. PlayStation already offers its version of Wrap-Up 2024. The end of the year is approaching, and with it comes the traditional review of what the past 12 months have brought us. In recent years, the trend of various recaps across all platforms (not just gaming) has been inherent. After all, who wouldn’t want to brag to their friends about how many thousands of hours they’ve spent playing games this year, or how much music they’ve listened to? PlayStation is now bringing its own recap, but there’s a catch.

The popularity of PlayStation Wrap-Up 2024 is evidenced by the fact that, at the time of writing, the service was still struggling to run properly. In fact, stat-hungry players overloaded the servers at the very beginning. So even now, some will have to wait a while for their summary. In the Wrap-Up, find out your “top” game of the year. This is followed by your top five most played games, complemented by your favourite game genre. The wrap-up also offers a month-by-month overview. Another section provides PS Plus game recommendations, a breakdown of total hours played, trophies earned in 2024, social stats and some interesting facts about your involvement in the PS Stars programme if you’re a member. And of course, you can share your PlayStation Wrap-Up on social media.

Sony is Reportedly Preparing a New Full-fledged Portable PlayStation

According to the latest report from Bloomberg, Sony is working on a full-fledged portable PlayStation that will allow gamers to enjoy PS5 games on the go with a handheld. The device is meant to help Sony reach new gamers. As we can see with the Switch, the world’s third best-selling console, handhelds are still in demand. Nintendo has hit the bull’s eye, and Microsoft is also set to respond to its popularity. Its Xbox division is also preparing a portable console. Not to mention the successor to the Switch, which will go on sale next year.

Insiders connected with the PlayStation project say the handheld is in the very early stages of development. If all goes well and the project eventually comes to fruition, we won’t see it for a few years. Apparently, it will be a follow-up to PlayStation Portal. That saw the light of day in 2023 and was a disappointment for many gamers due to the fact that it doesn’t work natively. You have to be connected to the internet to play games on it. Originally, you needed a connection to your PS5. Now you can play games via the cloud. But gamers still want a full-featured handheld along the lines of the very popular and successful PSP.

Previous Battlefield 2042 Dud and Future

Battlefield 2042 from 2021 was a dud. Despite the initial problems and lack of content, the multiplayer shooter became quite popular. Electronic Arts and the development studios are determined to right the wrongs of the past and ensure the new Battlefield lives up to the community’s expectations and is entertaining.

According to a report by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, the development of the new Battlefield is intertwined with massive internal playtests. Selected players should be able to play the game much more often than in the development of previous installments. As a result, a huge amount of data has been collected. This kind of feedback is unprecedented in the history of the brand. All this to ensure that this Battlefield is a success. This should avoid mistakes like removing the traditional class system in favor of operators. EA has high hopes for the game. After all, studios like DICE, Motive, Criterion Games and Ripple Effect are also working on it. It should offer a story campaign and various multiplayer modes. It will officially bring modern times and battles for 64 players (32 vs 32).

Gibraltar Battle

“We’re making something that’s more like previous Battlefields,” said head of development Vince Zampella, who previously founded the studios where the Call of Duty and Titanfall franchises were created, earlier.

According to the artwork, we’ll be taking a look at Gibraltar. The latter makes sense in a fictional conflict, forming a strategic bridge between Europe and Africa. Henderson has previously stated that the story takes place between 2027 and 2030. It is to focus on a huge private army fighting NATO in various locations around the world. Next year, more players can try Battlefield as part of a community program. We’ll see if it also comes out in 2025.
