Starting August 7, PlayStation VR2 users can access PC games using a new adapter. Priced at $59.99, this adapter connects PS VR2 to a PC, expanding its game library to include thousands of SteamVR titles like Half-Life: Alyx, Fallout 4 VR, or War Thunder. The adapter requires a DisplayPort 1.4 cable, a Steam account, and a compatible PC. Minimum PC requirements include Windows 10 or 11, Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100, 8GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GTX 1650 or AMD RX 5500XT GPU
Key PS VR2 features, such as HDR and eye tracking, are not supported on PC. However, 4K visuals, a 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection, see-through view, foveated rendering (without eye tracking), and 3D audio are maintained. The setup involves connecting PS VR2 to the PC with the adapter and a DisplayPort cable, then installing the PlayStation VR2 App and SteamVR App.
This update provides PS VR2 players access to Steam’s extensive VR game library, including multiplayer worlds, survival horror, sports simulations, and more. While some features are exclusive to PS5, this adapter significantly broadens the VR gaming experience for PS VR2 users.
