During CES 2025, Neil Druckman, one of the creators of The Last of Us (both the game and the series), unveiled a new trailer and announced when the second season of the post-apocalyptic series will arrive. It will be released on HBO and MAX in April and will have seven episodes, but no exact date yet. The anticipated second season is expected to cover only part of the plot of the second game, the entire story will be split into two or more seasons, according to an interview with the creators last year. “We don’t think we’ll be able to tell the whole story in two seasons because we’re taking our time and exploring interesting avenues,” said showrunner Craig Mazin
Along with the upcoming release date for The Last of Us, Sony has also announced plans to adapt other titles in the PlayStation portfolio. Ghost of Tsushima is said to be getting an anime series, and Horizon Zero Dawn will get its own movie alongside Helldivers 2. We’ll have to wait for more details, though. Apparently, spring will be in the spirit of The Last of Us. The Last of Us Part II Remastered will get its own PC port in early April.
