Epic Games Store is spoiling us this holiday season. I just watched Control slip away from the free games section, and now they’ve dropped Ghostrunner 2 on us. I have to say, I’ve been keeping tabs on this one since it came out a couple of months ago, so seeing it pop up for free is pretty wild.
You know how Control had that whole supernatural government agency thing going? Well, Ghostrunner 2 swaps out telekinetic powers for a cyberpunk katana and some seriously smooth parkour moves. Been playing both recently, and they’ve got this similar feel when it comes to momentum – you just flow through the environments differently. Control has you floating and throwing stuff around, while Ghostrunner 2 has you wall-running and slicing through everything in sight.
Got to mention those new motorcycle bits they added to the sequel. Honestly wasn’t sure about them at first, but they really mix up the pace between all the intense sword fighting and platforming. Pretty brave of them to mess with the formula, but it works.
Here’s the deal though – you’ve only got until 5 PM tomorrow to grab it. Considering it usually goes for forty bucks and just came out in October, that’s pretty generous. Been watching Epic’s holiday giveaway since they started with Return to Moria, and the games just keep getting better.
For anyone sitting on the fence about this one – if you’re into games that make you feel like a total badass but require some skill to master, you’ll probably dig this cyberpunk hack-and-slash game. Just make sure to claim it before the next mystery game takes its spot tomorrow 27th December 5pm.
