It’s an open secret that Ubisoft is working on a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. After all, company boss Yves Guillemot confirmed a few months ago that the company is working on remakes of older games in the famous franchise. Until now, we had no idea about the planned release date of the dusty pirate adventure – that changes with a report from Insider Gaming magazine. Journalist Tom Henderson has documents that reveal that the Black Flag remake was scheduled for November 2025 at least until recently. However, the date may have been pushed back due to the recent postponement of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

A multiplayer Assassin’s Creed, codenamed Invictus, and a mobile spin-off called Jade were also originally planned for release next fall. In total, about ten games in the Assassin’s Creed series are in the pipeline over the next five years. Ubisoft is currently going through an unstable period that has resulted in a change in strategy when releasing games. They will now be heading straight to Steam and, at least for now, getting rid of paid pre-access. Investors are pushing the company’s management to more drastic solutions to address their discontent. One of the options under consideration is a buyout of all of Ubisoft by the Guillemot family and China’s Tencent.
