The IAR-93 Vultur is a twin-engine subsonic aircraft designed primarily for ground attack and tactical reconnaissance. Single-seat main attack versions and two-seat combat versions were built for advanced flying and training. The plane was developed by Romania 🇷🇴 and Yugoslavia 🇷🇸 in the 1970s to become less dependent on Soviet equipment. I.R.Av built the Romanian aircraft—Craiova as the IAR-93 and its Yugoslav counterpart Soko as the Soko J-22 Orao. For Romania 🇷🇴 the IAR-93 was to replace the MiG-15 and MiG-17 in the role of fighter-bomber. A total of 88 aircraft were produced. The plane made its first test flight in 1974 and was successfully introduced into active service the following year, remaining for 24 years.
